Athlete of the Week, Dec. 16-22: Will Cox, Shawano
Will Cox of the Shawano boys basketball has been selected as the WSN Athlete of the Week for the week of December 16 through 22 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 3324 total votes cast this week, with Cox receiving 1615 of them. Malachi Bush of Chequamegon boys basketball finished second in the voting with 1484 votes.
Cox finished with 17 points to help the Hawks upset Division 2 No. 1 Seymour on Tuesday. He also scored 7 points in a 53-34 victory over Denmark on Friday. After an opening loss to defending Division 2 chamion Pulaski, Shawano has reeled off six straight wins and are currently tied for the lead in the Bay Conference. The 17 points is a season-high for the four-year varsity performer.
