Athlete of the Week Nominees, February 24-March 2

Below are the Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of February 24 through March 2. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Jacob Bresser, Eau Claire Memorial boys hockey, scored 4 goals in the Old Abes 5-0 win against Regis/McDonell in a Sectional Final. In a Sectional Semi-Final on Tuesday, he scored 5 goals in a victory against Hayward, 8-1. 

Andrea Eliason, St. Croix Valley girls hockey, recorded a hat trick and added an assist in their 5-0 win over Superior to advance to the state tournament. She also scored a goal and added an assist in Fusion’s 3-0 win over Hayward/Spooner in a Sectional Semi-Final. 

Brady Ellingson, Sussex Hamilton boys basketball, scored 38 of the Chargers 49 points, including the game-winning three a the buzzer to lift them past Kettle Moraine 49-46 in a Regional Final. The Iowa recruit also scored 29 points in a Regional Semi-Final win over Homestead, 57-47. 

Jens Lantz, Ellsworth wrestling, became the 13th wrestler in state history to win four individual state titles on Saturday. He won the 126-pound weight class with a technical fall over Sage Soppa of Abbotsford/Colby, 25-7, in the title match. Lantz was the 120-pound champ as a junior, 113-pound champ as a sophomore, and 103-pound winner as a freshman. 

Julia Silloway, Berlin girls basketball, scored 32 points in the Indians 47-44 win over Clintonville on Thursday night. She connected on 5 three-pointers and went 9-for-12 from the free throw line. On Monday night, Silloway finished with 25 points and went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in Berlin’s 44-30 win over Winneconne.
