Every Friday the Wisconsin Sports Network and the Prep Baseball Report will bring you a week in review of all the latest news and highlights throughout the baseball season. 

Here’s a look at the top stories this week.

+ On Monday the Prep Baseball Report updated it’s Class of 2016 player rankings. Expanding the list to the top 75 prospects in the state, 35 new players were added. The 2016 class in Wisconsin is extremely strong and on any given year any of the top ten prospects could have been listed at the top spot. As it is there are already five Division 1 verbal commitments in the class and several more worthy of that level. The updated rankings include a new No.1 prospect in Indian Trail SS Gain Lux as well Oak Creek RHP Matt Hamilton surging into the top 10. MORE

+ April 1 marked opening day for Wisconsin high school baseball and yet again Mother Nature is playing her April Fool’s joke on the state’s spring baseball season. Despite the weather some teams managed to play on opening day including a pair of Wisconsin teams taking their talents to Florida. Highlights from opening day include two no-hitters thrown. MORE

+ WisSports.net baseball writer Travis Wilson has been hard at work on Conference Preview for every league in the state. Previews will continue over the next several days, to be wrapped up towards the middle of next week. MORE

+ A pair of Oak Creek juniors made verbal commitments. No. 3 ranked OF Doran Turchin has committed to Illinois and teammate No. 8 ranked RHP Mitchel Makarewicz committed to Xavier. MORE

+ Ty Weber, a 2016 RHP from Menomonee Falls made his verbal commitment to Illinois. Weber is the fifth sophomore to already make a Division 1 college commitment. MORE

+ Monday, March 24 marked the first day for Wisconsin high schools to start practice and tryouts and The Prep Baseball Report released its Power 25 preseason team rankings for 2014. Stevens Point with their extraordinary depth, experience and high end pitching edged out defending state champion Sun Prairie for the top spot. MORE

+ Prep Baseball Report released its updated 2015 Overall Rankings compiled of the top junior prospects from across our 10 state coverage area. 21 Wisconsin prospects made the list of the top 350. MORE
