Every Friday the Wisconsin Sports Network and the Prep Baseball Report will bring you a week in review of all the latest news and highlights throughout the baseball season.

Here’s a look at the top stories this week.

+ The landscape of spring and summer baseball will be changing in 2015 as Arrowhead and Catholic Memorial will officially be making the change to spring baseball. Both schools will join the Little Ten baseball conference competing in the  spring season. This change could just be the first domino to fall in the slowly diminishing summer baseball. The effects should be seen immediately on the field in 2015 as well. Arrowhead is stocked with Division 1 caliber prospects. Three of the top 10 (ranked by Prep Baseball Report) prospects in the 2016 class all hail from Arrowhead. MORE

+ Sun Prairie RHP Kellen Shea made his college commitment this week. The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder has committed to play baseball at Marian University, Shea is currently ranked No. 74 in the state by PBR.

+ Athletic scholarships can be confusing, and Sean McCann brings an in depth look at athletics aid in this week’s Recruiting Essentials. Each Division I baseball program is allowed to provide up to 11.7 full athletic scholarships. Each scholarship is normally broken down into a percentage of a full.  A full scholarship consists of tuition (14 hours per semester), fees (course-related fees), room (a spot in one of the dorms), meals (21 meals a week) and books (all course-related books). MORE Coupled with this story is a great Q&A with questions from parents and players about the scholarship process and the rules involved. MORE

+ Denmark's Derek Van Pay is off to a torrid start to the season. After Thursday's 22-4 victory over Mishicot Van Pay is a perfect 5-for-5 with two home runs and six RBI.

+ The list of baseball no-hitters continues to grow, with 9 known no-hitters thrown this week. Included in that list is Mitch Ebben of Shiocton, who threw his second straight 5-inning no-hitter in a 19-0 win over Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday, striking out 12. Payton Bryden has multiple no-hitters in his career, adding a 6-inning no-no over Berlin Thursday that included 12 strikeouts and also a home run at the plate.

+ While much of the Northern part of the state is still trying to get their first game in, conference races have already started in other parts of Wisconsin. Tuesday night, Kimberly, ranked 4th in the preseason by the Baseball Wisconsin Yearbook, opened FVA play on the wrong foot as Neenah hammered the Papermakers 12-2, collecting 11 hits off Kimberly's returning state Player of the Year Scott Schreiber. Kimberly bounced back with a 10-0 shutout of Appleton West on Thursday. Clintonville showed they would be a favorite in the Eastern Valley once again with a dominating 15-1 5-inning win over Xavier Thursday night. Turner Doornink struck out 9 and also blasted a three-run home run.

+ WisSports.net baseball writer Travis Wilson is nearly wrapped up with Conference Previews for every league in the state. The final spring baseball previews will be published on WSN today. MORE
