Every Friday the Wisconsin Sports Network and the Prep Baseball Report will bring you a week in review of all the latest news and highlights throughout the baseball season. 

Here’s a look at the top stories this week.

+ On Monday, Sun Prairie took back the No. 1 spot in the updated PBR Power 25 rankings. Appleton North slipped to No. 2 after losing their first contest of the year and again lost this week to crosstown foe Appleton East. Holmen has remained undefeated and moved up to No. 3, Holmen’s strength of schedule has not been the best but a win over conference rival La Crosse Central could catapult the Vikings in the rankings. + Brookfield Central senior RHP Elijah Goodman has put himself back on the recruiting market. Verbally committed to UW-Whitewater, Goodman has re-opened his recruiting options in efforts of landing a Division 1 spot. Last weekend Goodman was sharp in the STiKS Academy Spring League where he sat 86-88 mph touching 89 mph on several occasions. Brookfield Central will open their summer season on May 23. MORE

+ Burlington senior RHP Mark Wallace has committed to Marian College. 

+ In one of the best match-ups of the week, PBR Power 25’s No. 7 Denmark beat No. 6 Hortonville on Tuesday 3-2. Giving Denmark three signature wins against Power 25 ranked teams, two of which have been top 10 teams (Stevens Point and Hortonville). The win could easily leapfrog Denmark over Jefferson as the top Division 2 team in the state. Hortonville came back to top Denmark 5-3 however.

+ Last week PBR ran the Summer Preseason I.D. showcase on May 8 in Waukesha and several players stood out at that event. Most notably Cedarburg’s junior RHP Jonathan Stiever who sat 85-87 mph on the mound. Check out the full list of stats for MORE

+ Ranked No. 11 in Wisconsin’s 2014 class, the highest ranked uncommitted prospect named his school on Thursday. New Berlin Eisenhower RHP Peyton Cypress has committed to play baseball at Nicholls State. Cypress marks the 15th Division 1 commit in the 2014 class. MORE
