As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Week 6 Game of the Week:  Kimberly (5-0, 3-0; D1 #1) at Appleton North (4-1, 3-0; D1 #9) -- Friday, 7 pm
These schools have developed quite the rivalry over the last decade or more, and this year's meeting between the teams has as much on the line as ever. The winner has a huge leg up in the VFA-North title race and of course gets bragging rights for the next year. The game also has significant seeding implications, especially if Kimberly remains in D1 where they could be grouped together with Appleton North. Last year the Papermakers dominated a game that saw both teams come in undefeated, racing out to a 49-0 lead before North got on the board late in a 49-14 Kimberly victory. The last eight years, either Kimberly or Appleton North won at least a share of the conference title, be it FVA or VFA-North, with Kimberly winning outright titles from 2006 to 2008 as well as 2013. Appleton North was an outright winner in 2009 and 2012, while the teams shared the title in 2010 (with Menasha) and 2011. Each team has four wins in the head-to-head matchup in those seasons -- Kimberly in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2013; Appleton North from 2009 to 2012. This season, Kimberly is the top-ranked team in the Division 1 Coaches Poll coming off last season's D2 state title, and sports the longest active winning streak in the state at 19 games (tied with Stanley-Boyd). Appleton North was knocked off by Fond du Lac in Week 1, but has since won four straight games.
