As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Week 8 Game of the Week:  Germantown (7-0, 5-0; D1 #2) at Homestead (6-1, 4-1; D2 #4) -- Friday, 7 pm
You have to go back to 2000 to find the last time Homestead did not earn at least a share of the North Shore Conference title, but that incredible 13-year streak of league championships is very much in jeopardy in 2014. A 40-27 loss to Cedarburg two weeks ago means the Highlanders need a win over undefeated Germantown to keep the streak alive. It's not the first time in recent seasons they've been in such a situation. Back in 2012, a Week 8 defeat to Whitefish Bay meant they needed to beat Germantown in the final week of the season to secure a share of the title. They did just that in a 28-7 victory, and ended up winning the Division 2 state title that year. Germantown has had success against Dave Keel's bunch recently however, winning two of the last five meetings between the teams, including a 2010 playoff contest. It doesn't happen often, but Homestead may be the underdog in this game, as Germantown is unbeaten and has looked very impressive along the way, including a 48-31 win over Cedarburg, who Homestead lost to in Week 6. Senior quarterback Dwayne Lawhorn, Jr. has been outstanding for Warhawks head coach Jake Davis, and he has a number of weapons on the outside to get the ball to. Still, as we've learned several times recently, it's hard to ever bet against a Dave Keel coached team.
