Pius XI's Gabby Green has been selected as the top senior Point Guard as part of the WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards

Green is a high intensity player that excels on both sides of the ball. She might not be tall, 5-foot-5, but Gabby is third on the team in rebounding, while leading the team in nearly every other stat.

The Bradley recruit is averaging 15.5 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 steals per game for the undefeated Lady Popes and coach Scott Herrick.

Green scored a career-high 26 points in the Lady Popes' 78-28 win over Wauwatosa West on February 17. She also went over 1,000 career points in the victory.

Pius XI is making their second consecutive appearance at state, they play Waunakee in a Division 2 State Semi-Final on Friday afternoon.

Finalists for the award were Green, DeForest's Kayla Goth, Milwaukee King's Shakeela Fowler, Janesville Craig's Alison Hughes, and Wausau West's Jasmin Samz.

Past winners of the award include Gabrielle Ortiz of The Prairie School (2014), Taylor Schmidt of Algoma (2013), and Nicole Bauman of New Berlin Eisenhower (2012).
