WBCA announces Boys Division 5 All-State Team

The senior trio of Christian Haffner from Gresham, Jacob Jurss from Sheboygan Lutheran, and Canon O'Heron from Bangor headline the 2015 WBCA Division 5 All-State Team as unanimous selections. Jurss is the lone repeat selection from a year ago. Due to a tie in the voting, 12 players were selected this year.

Haffner was one of the state's most prolific scorers, averaging 26.6 points per game to go with 4.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest. An 87.5% free throw and 49% three-point shooter, the 6-1 senior guard was the CWC-10 Player of the Year.

Jurss burst onto the scene while playing a key role as just a freshman in Sheboygan Lutheran's 2012 state championship. Now a 6-1 senior, he led the Crusaders in scoring (24 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), and assists (6.2 apg).

O'Heron is a four-time First Team All-Conference choice and twice named the Scenic Bluffs Player of the Year. The 6-6 senior forward led the conference champs in scoring (25.3), rebounding (9.2), and assists (4.6), as well as steals and blocks.

Heath Butler of Black Hawk was one of the most prolific scorers in D5, averaging 25.8 points per game to go with a team-best 11 rebounds per contest. The 6-5 senior forward scored at least 35 points on five occasions this year, including a season-high 40 in a win over Monticello.

Ryan Dachel of New Auburn led the Trojans to the Lakeland-East title this year as the team finished 21-4 overall. A 5-10 junior guard, he averaged 18.4 points per game to go with 6.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds per contest.

Noah Gosse of Green Bay NEW Lutheran has the Blazers back at state for the 5th time in the last 6 years, as he's played a big role on the last two tournament squads. The 6-3 senior averaged a conference-best 17.8 points per game to go with 9 rebounds per contest.

Tiwon Jones of Young Coggs Prep has helped the Eagles to the Division 5 state tournament after playing an Independent schedule. The 6-1 guard averages 26.9 points per game for Young Coggs, who carry a 21-5 record into Madison.

Zach Orlando of Wausaukee joined teammate Aaron Schlies as co-Players of the Year in the Marinette & Oconto Conference this season. The 6-1 senior guard led the team in scoring at 18.1 points per game.

Aaron Schlies of Wausaukee was the Marinette & Oconto Conference co-Player of the Year with teammate Zach Orlando. A 6-3 senior forward, Schlies averaged 15.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per contest for the Rangers.

Max Stockwell of Hillsboro has helped the Tigers to an appearance in the Division 5 state tournament with a 22-5 overall record. A versatile 6-5 junior, he averages 17.3 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, all best on the team.

Cody Tomlinson of Washburn has helped the Castle Guards make the lengthy trip from the shores of Lake Superior to Madison for the D5 state tournament. The 6-2 senior shooting guard averages 24.9 points per game for the 25-2 Castle Guards.

Duke Vander Galien is a four-year varsity standout for the Rockets, earning Trailways-North Player of the Year recognition as a senior. The 5-7 senior point guard averaged 13.7 points, 4.2 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game in 2015.
