Week 3 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Week 2 WisSports.net Coaches Poll
Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Pol

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

Not many changes in the top portion of the D1 Coaches Poll, where Kimberly holds a sizable lead in the voting over Arrowhead. Bay Port did edge ahead of Fond du Lac for the #4 spot however. At the bottom of the poll, losses by Muskego and Hudson dropped them out, with unbeatens Madison La Follette and Oconomowoc moving into the rankings.

Division 2

Waukesha West solidified its spot atop the Division 2 rankings, but Menomonie did grab a couple top votes. Superior scored a nice 10-7 win over Hudson, vaulting the Spartans from 9th to 3rd this week. Defending champion Menasha's loss to Xavier moved them from 2nd to 7th. Slinger and Whitefish Bay are new teams in this week's poll, with Oregon just outside the top ten coming off a victory over Monona Grove.

Division 3

A number of changes in the top five this week, though Catholic Memorial and Rice Lake continue to be strong #1 and #2 teams. Monona Grove's surprising shutout loss to Oregon dropped the Silver Eagles from 3rd to 6th, while Reedsburg's last second defeat at the hands of DeForest moved the Beavers from 5th to 8th. Xavier's win over Menasha has the Hawks all the way up to 3rd this week. Waupaca, Mount Horeb/Barneveld, and Delavan-Darien move into the poll this week, with Wisconsin Lutheran, Luxemburg-Casco, and New Berlin Eisenhower dropping out.

Division 4

Stability at the top of the D4 poll was the big story this week, with Lodi leading the top five that also features Wrightstown, Spencer/Columbus Catholic, Saint Croix Central, and River Valley. Losses by Bloomer and Lake Mills dropped out of the poll after losses, with undefeated teams Watertown Luther Prep and Kiel moving into the rankings.

Division 5

Amherst is again on top of the Division 5 rankings, though Arcadia received a couple #1 votes as well. Stratford's loss to Marathon dropped the Tigers all the way from 3rd to 10th this week, with Westby and Cedar Grove-Belgium moving up to 3rd and 4th respectively. New to the rankings this week is Lakeside Lutheran, who is off to an impressive 3-0 start.

Division 6

No change in the top five of this week's rankings, as Edgar is the #1 team followed by Saint Mary's Springs, Darlington, Athens, and Cuba City. Marathon's impressive victory over Stratford got the attention of the coaches, as the team went from unranked to 7th this week. Abbotsford is 3-0 in the Cloverwood and comes into the poll for the first time at #10.

Division 7

Another division with stability in the top five, as Pepin/Alma retains its top spot in the D7 Coaches Poll. Catholic Central is still knocking on the door as the #2 team. Impressive starts by Benton/Scales Mound (IL), Loyal, and Hilbert/Stockbridge have them in the rankings for the first time this week.

8-Man Football

After no poll last week due to low voting numbers, we are happy to bring back the 8-man rankings this week, though we are still looking for more coach participation. Prairie Farm and Green Bay NEW Lutheran, who have squared off in the unofficial title game the last two years, are no surprise as the #1 and #2 teams respectively.
