McFarland entered the final night of Rock Valley Conference play tied with Evansville atop the North Division standings, looking to get a home win over Edgerton to ensure at least a share of the title.
The plucky Crimson Tide had other ideas however, and led McFarland 64-63 after Charlie Hatlen buried a three-pointer with about ten seconds remaining.
McFarland had the last chance though, getting a tough, contested jumper from the right wing. Instead of assuming the clock would run out, Spartans senior Nick Hildebrandt crashed the boards. When the ball bounced off the rim, he caught it and put it back in one motion, a fraction of a second before the buzzer sounded, giving McFarland a 65-64 win and a share of the Rock Valley-North championship.
