Week 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year. We have added an 8-Man Coaches Poll this season.

Division 1

Once again, there was stability at the top of the Division 1 Coaches Poll, but a good amount of movement in the bottom half. Kimberly remains #1, followed by Franklin and Sun Prairie. Four new teams move into the poll this week: #7 Racine Horlick, #8 Verona, #9 Oak Creek, and #10 Badger. Dropping out following losses are Muskego, Appleton North, Green Bay Preble, and Kenosha Bradford.

Division 2

What an incredibly strong division, where once again Waunakee is a strong favorite, though Brookfield Central did steal a #1 vote this week. There were a couple minor changes in spots six through nine, but the only new team this week is Hartford at #10, who replaces Superior.

Division 3

Defending champion Catholic Memorial is a unanimous #1 team in Division 3 once again, with the top seven spots in the poll the same as last week. Fox Valley Lutheran's strong season continued with a win over Freedom, and the Foxes jump up from #10 to #8 this week. Mount Horeb/Barneveld's home loss to Waunakee dropped the Vikings from #8 to #10.

Division 4

Another division with very little change at the top, as the top five remains the same. Saint Croix Central is first, followed by Middle Border rival Osceola, while Capitol-North squads Lodi and Lake Mills join G-E-T in the top five. Freedom's two-point loss to Fox Valley Lutheran drops the Irish from sixth to tenth, while Beloit Turner is new to this week's poll after former #7 Xavier fell to Menasha.

Division 5

Amherst once again got solid support for the top spot, but Stanley-Boyd retains the #1 ranking in Division 5 after beating former #3 Spencer/Columbus Catholic. Speaking of the Rockets, they fall to #6 this week. No other ranked Division 5 squads lost in Week 3.

Division 6

Saint Mary's Springs remains the clear #1 team in Division 6, though Grantsburg also received a first place vote, coming in second overall. Teams dropping out of the rankings after suffering losses in Week 3 include Glenwood City, Shiocton, and Chetek-Weyerhaeuser. Moving in this week are Marathon (#8), Pacelli (#9), and Racine Lutheran (#10).

Division 7

Edgar continues to have a stranglehold on the top spot in Division 7, with very strong teams from Bangor and Black Hawk following. Abbotsford suffered its first loss of the year, a non-conference showdown against Marathon, dropping the Falcons from fourth to sixth. Clear Lake and Potosi/Cassville move into this week's rankings, as Ithaca and Iowa-Grant drop out.

8-Man Football

Luck continues to dominate the 8-Man Football Coaches Poll, with Oakfield in second once again. Sevastopol went down to Newman Catholic, with the Pioneers falling to #8 this week. Green Bay NEW Lutheran moves from fifth to fourth. Phillips drops out after a second loss, with unbeaten Mellen moving in to the rankings.
