The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

The WSN15 boys' basketball series continues with the Top 15 Teams of the WSN Era.

The lone thing better than perfection might just be beating a pair of state-championship teams along the way.

That's exactly what Whitefish Bay Dominican accomplished during its remarkable 2004-05 season as coach Paul Wollersheim guided the Knights to a 27-0 record, the WIAA Division 3 state championship and regular-season triumphs over both Division 1 state champion Madison Memorial and Division 2 state winner Racine St. Catherine's.

Senior guard Walter (JR) Blount Jr. (6-1) was the leader for Dominican as he averaged 19.8 points and 3.8 rebounds, and poured in 25 points during the Knights' 66-57 victory over Grantsburg in the state-title game at the Kohl Center in Madison.

The win over Grantsburg was the 39th in a row for Dominican, which also won the Division 3 state championship in 2003 with a 46-31 victory over Mishicot.

Afterward, Wollersheim called the 2004-05 squad among the best he has ever coached at the northside Catholic school.

"They've got to rank as good as any team I've ever coached," Wollersheim said.

Blount went on to a very strong four-year career at Loyola University in Chicago before playing professionally in Great Britain. He now is an assistant basketball coach at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Blount, senior Ben Hailey (6-5), senior Brandon Brown (6-1), freshman Kwamain Mitchell (5-10) and senior Zenas Underwood (6-2) were the top players for Dominican, which turned back Madison Memorial 65-60 at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse in the Badger Classic before topping Racine St. Catherine's 54-53 in a non-league game on Martin Luther King Day.

Blount had 25 points and the game-winning free throw for Dominican in its win over St. Catherine's, a game that was played at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Dominican won the Parkland Conference title in 2004-05 thanks in large part to two hard-earned triumphs over a very good Brown Deer program. The Knights turned back the Falcons by scores of 57-55 and 59-58 during the regular season.
