Results from 2018 Wisconsin Varsity Invitational

The 8th annual Wisconsin Varsity Invitational sponsored by Wisconsin Impact was held last weekend in at Center Court in Waukesha and Pewaukee High School.

The event featured 64 teams from across the state that were split into four divisions: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Platinum Champion -- Beaver Dam

Beaver Dam, the two-time defending Division 2 state champions, finished with a 4-0 record at the invite to claim the Platinum Division title. The Golden Beavers defeated Black Hawk, D5 state runner-up, 67-49 in the championship game. Beaver Dam also posted wins over Slinger (45-35), Oak Creek (44-29), and Sussex Hamilton (60-44) at the invite.

Black Hawk, who was the smallest team in the field with an enrollment of 99 for 2018-19, finished second with a 3-1 record. The Warriors defeated Appleton West (38-36), Kimberly (58-48), and New Berlin Eisenhower (58-50). 

Appleton West defeated Slinger, 51-45, in the third-place game.

Gold Champion -- DSHA

DSHA went 4-0 in the Gold Division. The Dashers defeated Pius XI Catholic in the championship game, 51-44. They also posted wins over Brookfield Central (50-36), Janesville Parker (58-38), and DeForest (56-50) at the invite.

Pius XI Catholic finished with a 3-1 record. The Lady Popes defeated Stoughton (43-25), Notre Dame (45-37), and Cedarburg (45-38). 

Brookfield Central won the third-place game, beating Cedarburg 54-38.

Silver Champion -- Pewaukee

Pewaukee captured the Silver Division title with a 4-0 record. The Pirates beat Reedsburg 66-44 in the championship game. They also picked up wins over Colfax (57-33), Pulaski (62-55), and Waukesha West (64-18) at the event.

Reedsburg finished with a 3-1 record. The Beavers earned wins over Hayward (49-38), Wrightstown (54-53), and Milwaukee Academy of Science (69-67).

Colfax defeated Milwaukee Academy of Science, 55-40, in the third-place game.

Bronze Champion -- Racine Lutheran

Racine Lutheran went 4-0 at the event, winning the Bronze Division title. The Crusaders edged Prairie du Chien in the championship game, 41-36. They also defeated Mishicot (52-24), Impact (53-51), and Bangor (55-33) at the invite.

Prairie du Chien finished with a 3-1 record. The Blackhawks earned wins over Manitowoc Lutheran (33-31), Fall River (44-31), and Wautoma (43-23).

Manitowoc Lutheran topped Mishicot in the third-place game, 38-25.
