WisSports.net Week 2 Player of the Week Nominees:
Wyatt Boe, Barron -- Barron ended a 34-game losing streak, the second-longest active streak in the state, with a 27-13 victory over Chequamegon on Friday night. Boe started things off the right way, taking the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. The junior would add 3 carries for 28 yards and another score, with 6 catches for 129 yards and yet another touchdown. Over on defense he recorded six tackles and a forced fumble.
Leo Chenal, Grantsburg -- The senior Badgers commit missed the Pirates' first game of the year due to a mission trip but quickly made up for lost time. Grantsburg defeated Hayward 35-8, with Chenal rushing 10 times for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also caught 2 passes for 42 yards and a score, adding 21 tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception on defense.
Jared Jandt, Peshtigo -- It was a non-conference victory, but it was an outstanding showing by Peshtigo as they ready for MOLNPC-Large play. The Bulldogs went back-and-forth with Bonduel all night, but held on for a 28-26 win, as Jandt completed 7-of-11 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown while rushing 31 times for 159 yards and two more scores.
Josh Jendusa, Mukwonago -- The Indians haven't been to the playoffs the last three seasons, but after a tough 28-17 loss to Catholic Memorial to open the year, Mukwonago scored a big-time 31-28 win over D1 #6 Kettle Moraine when Max Wrasman booted a 33-yard field goal in the closing seconds. None of it would have been possible without a huge game from running back Josh Jendusa. He carried the ball 45 times for 322 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding a pair of catches for 29 yards as well.
Ryan Larson, Saint Croix Central -- It's hard to say what was more impressive for the Panthers on Friday, the offense or defense. In a 49-7 win over Elk Mound, SCC racked up more than 500 yards of offense, with 452 on the ground. They held the Mounders to just 108 yards, limiting returning 2000-yard rusher Brady Redwine to just 36 yards. Senior Ryan Larson played a huge role on both sides, carrying the ball 8 times for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns while recording a team-high 6 tackles on defense with 3 sacks.
