WisSports.net Week 7 Player of the Week Nominees:

Brett Gerdes, Melrose-Mindoro -- It was a showdown for control of the Dairyland Conference, with both Melrose-Mindoro and Cochrane-Fountain City entering unbeaten in league play. Melrose was up 20-7 after the first quarter, but the Mustangs really blew things open in the second to take a 48-14 halftime lead en route to a 61-14 victory. Gerdes had four rushing touchdowns before halftime, including three in the key second quarter. He'd finish with 193 rushing yards on just eight carries.

Derik LeCaptain, Southern Door -- Southern Door handed Peshtigo its first loss of the year and in the process kept its faint MONLPC-Large title hopes alive. LeCaptain opened the scoring with a 45-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter, and closed things out for the Eagles with a pair of fourth quarter rushing scores. He'd finish with 263 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground on 34 carries, adding a pair of catches for 47 yards and a score through the air.

Ethan Pauly, Watertown -- Watertown and Stoughton played an exciting Badger-South Conference game Friday night that was nip-and-tuck the whole way. Watertown left some opportunities on the field in the first half, and it appeared it would haunt them, as the Goslings trailed 21-14 in the fourth quarter. However, Watertown quarterback Ethan Pauly would throw for a touchdown and rush for another to close out a 28-21 victory. He finished with 353 yards on 28-of-49 passing with three touchdowns, adding 45 yards on the ground and a score. Watertown remains unbeaten in league play.

Wyatt Viegut, Lake Holcombe/Cornell -- The co-op program clinched its second straight playoff appearance with a 50-7 win over Cameron last Friday. Wyatt Viegut rushed 20 times for 260 yards and four touchdowns, with all four scoring runs coming before halftime as the team built a 37-7 advantage before the break.

Nic Wohlfiel, Arrowhead -- Arrowhead was 0-3 to begin the season, but the Warhawks have won four straight since that time. Whether correlational or causational, those four wins have coincided with Wohlfiel taking over as the starting quarterback. he continued his strong play in a 33-15 win over Waukesha West, completing 9-of-13 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 156 yards and a score as well.
