WisSports.net Week 8 Player of the Week Nominees:

Bryce Huettner, Iola-Scandinavia -- Huettner had a big game in helping the T-Birds to a 41-6 win over Shiocton on Friday, rushing 23 times for 230 yards and six touchdowns. He is now alone in third place in state history in career rushing yards with 5,985. Next on the list: Random Lake's Luke Hagel at 6,495. Huettner also led the team with 12 tackles against Shiocton.

Tyler Jirousek, Mauston -- Mauston clinched at least a share of the South Central Conference title for the first time in 18 years, beating rival Nekoosa 33-6 last Friday night. Field conditions weren't great, but Jirousek was a workhorse for the Golden Eagles. He carried the ball 46 times for 350 yards and five touchdowns as the team broke open a close halftime score.

Cade Osborn, Regis -- Regis got a total team effort in topping fellow unbeaten Spencer/Columbus Catholic 23-6 to take control of the Cloverbelt Conference. Osborn rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown but saved his biggest contributions for defense. He recorded 18 total tackles and an interception, including four straight tackles on a first and goal situation to keep Spencer out of the end zone in the second quarter. Spencer/Columbus Catholic came into the game averaging 42 points per contest.

Logan Shramek, Blair-Taylor -- The Wildcats kept their playoff hopes alive with a big win over Independent/Gilmanton, 13-6. The team trailed 6-0 heading into the fourth quarter, but got on the board with an interception return touchdown on the first play of the quarter and padded the lead when Shramek went in for a 21-yard touchdown run a few minutes later. He finished with 117 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, and also recorded 7 tackles and 1.5 sacks over on defense.

Brandon Wilde, Palmyra-Eagle -- Palmyra-Eagle junior quarterback Brandon Wilde has led the state of Wisconsin in passing for the 2018 season for several weeks, and that carried over to the top passing performance in Week 8. The Panthers became playoff-eligible with a 48-14 win over Parkview on Friday, as Wilde completed 21-of-32 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns. This will be Palmyra-Eagle's first postseason appearance since 2010.
