Bay Port junior Max Meeuwsen has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week for the week of February 18 through 24.

There was a total of 4,693 votes cast this week. Max finished first with 2,180 votes. Colfax's Kameri Meredith finished second with a total of 1,158 votes.

Max has been in wrestling for a little over a year at Bay Port High School, starting his sophomore year. Now, he is a state champion. Max who has excelled on the football field, being named the 2018 Defensive Player of the Year in the Fox River Classic, is now excelling on the mat.

Last weekend, Max pinned Janesville Craig's Keanu Benton. Benton, who is a UW-Madison football recruit, was the top-ranked wrestler at the 285 pound class going into the state championship. At the 2 minute 18 second mark, Max pinned Keanu to become the D1 winner at the 285 pound weight class.
