Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week: Beata Nelson, Verona/Mount Horeb
Beata Nelson of Verona/Mount Horeb girls swimming has been selected as the Sport Ngin Athlete of the Week for the week of November 10 through 16 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 2,019 votes this week with Nelson receiving 1,022 of them. Katie Drabot of Cedarburg girls swimming finished in second with 724 votes.
Nelson was part of three record-setting performances. She won back-to-back titles in three events, setting new state records in all three. In the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 200 freestyle relay. Nelson set what is believed to be a national record in the butterfly with a time of 51.70.
