Rice Lake's Ellenson selected as state's top senior Wing

Rice Lake's Henry Ellenson has been selected as the top senior Wing as part of the WSN Senior Boys Basketball Awards.

An exceptionally skilled 6-foot-10 forward, Ellenson is a McDonald's All-American who led Rice Lake to victories in 47 of 48 games in the Big Rivers Conference during his four-year prep career.

Ellenson is averaging 27.4 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game while shooting 51 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line.

For the second year in a row, Ellenson has led Rice Lake to the WIAA Division 2 State Tournament. The Warriors (21-5) are scheduled to take on Greendale (16-10) in a state semifinal on Friday.

Ellenson has signed a national letter of intent to play for Marquette University and is ranked as the No. 5 player in the country in the class of 2015 by ESPN.

Finalists for the award were Ellenson, Fall Creek's Matt Anderson, Homestead's Jaylen Key, Ashwaubenon's Kyle Monroe and Kettle Moraine's Mitch Pfeifer. 

Past winners of the award include Kevon Looney of Milwaukee Hamilton (2014), Nick Fuller of Sun Prairie (2013), and Sam Dekker of Sheboygan Lutheran (2012).
