WisSports.net has been a fixture on the Wisconsin high school sports landscape for so long, that it's easy to forget that many of our readers are somewhat new to the site and may not know the history of how we came to be, what we've gone through as a company to get to where we are today, and how we do what we do.
Thanks to Loren Nelson of the Sport Ngin Community, we've got a great written history of WSN to share, along with a bit of a peak behind the curtain on how we do things. Some impressive metrics, comments from people both in the state and around the country, and much more are included as well. Be sure to check out the Timeline, with the lowdown on how we went from an idea by founder Nicholas Kartos in 2002, to the country's most unique and popular state-based high school sports website.

A big thanks goes out to the many people who have contributed to WSN's success over the years, including Kartos, Rick Hamilton, Mark Miller, Laura Ritchie, Travis Wilson, Norbert Durst, Marlin Lee, and many other employees over the years. Also to Tim Eichorst and When We Were Young Productions, TDS Telecom, Sport Ngin, early supporters at JustAGame Fieldhouse and the Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau, many great sponsors and advertisers, and too many more to name.
This quote from Eau Claire Leader-Telegram sports editor Joe Ziemer especially rings true:
“I was talking to another reporter the other day, and we said, 'How did people do this job without all these schedules and standings at your fingertips?' ”
We look forward to many more years bringing you the best and most thorough high school sports information possible.
