The Sparta Spartans have been selected as the Week 4 U.S. Army Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team went on the road to defeat La Crosse Logan in a key MVC contest. The Spartans were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. A total of 3,682 votes were cast, as Sparta's 1,922 votes edged Monroe's 1,207.

The Spartans are looking for their first playoff trip since 2005, and still in search of the program's first postseason victory ever, which makes Friday's 18-13 win over Mississippi Valley Conference heavyweight La Crosse Logan one of the top wins in school history. It was back-and-forth all game, with Sparta answering a Logan touchdown with one of its own midway through the third quarter in what proved to be the game-winner. Ryan Wisniewski threw a pair of touchdowns in the win, while Brett Von Ruden blocked a punt that was recovered by Travis Goede, who went 22 yards for a second quarter score.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 5 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
