Wisconsin Sports Network and WisSports.net are happy to announce Onalaska's Adam Skifton as the 2023 recipient of the Dave Krieg Award as the most outstanding senior quarterback in Wisconsin, part of the WSN Senior Football Awards.

Adam Skifton leads the state with 2,944 passing yards as the Hilltoppers ended up sharing the Mississippi Valley Conference crown. The two-year starter completed 66.9% of his passes with 39 touchdowns and five interceptions, good for a 128.9 passer rating.

"He's the best I've coached here and we have had a long string of good quarterbacks," said head coach Tom Yashinsky. "Between rushing and passing he has accounted for around 90% of our touchdowns. In the past our quarterbacks have had some inflated completion percentages with jet sweeps being tossed forward, that isn't the case this year, we hardly ever run that play. His intermediate accuracy is unbelievable."

In two years guiding the Hilltoppers' offense as the starter, Skifton threw for 5,635 yards with 69 touchdowns, finishing with a 127.8 quarterback rating.

The Augustana (SD) commit was recently announced as a WFCA Large School All-State selection.

Finalists for the award were Skifton, Ben Fritsch of Port Washington, Tyler Hatcher of Sussex Hamilton, Kasey Helgeson of Mount Horeb/Barneveld, and Drew Kavanaugh of Sun Prairie East.

Past winners of the award include Oshkosh West's Trey Demler (2009), Franklin's Lance Baretz (2010), West De Pere's Jay Tollefson (2011), Watertown's Tarek Yaeggi (2012), Xavier's Matt Ferris (2013), Brown Deer's Zack Baun (2014), Amherst's Garrett Groshek (2015), Kimberly's Danny Vanden Boom (2016), Franklin's Max Alba (2017), Kimberly's Cody Staerkel (2018), La Crosse Central's Johnny Davis (2019), Lake Mills' Adam Moen (2020), Franklin's Myles Burkett (2021), and Sun Prairie East's Jerry Kaminski.

The award is named after Dave Krieg, a graduate of D.C. Everest High School who went on to star at Milton College and later in the National Football League. Krieg ranks in the Top 12 in NFL history in career pass attempts, completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times in his 12-year career.
