Albany/Monticello claims the Division 5 WIAA state title

The Albany/Monticello co-op secured the Division 5 WIAA state championship after a comeback win over Lena. 

Albany/Monticello trailed by seven points early in the second half and five with 35 seconds left to force overtime and win, 57-54, in overtime at the Resch Center in Green Bay. 

Six players scored at least six points for Albany/Monticello, led by junior guard Abby Hollis (5-6), who finished with 15 points and made four triples. She tied the game with 2.8 seconds left and hit a triple in overtime. 

Junior Dalana Trumpy (5-8) added 14 points and eight rebounds for coach Derik Doescher and Albany/Monticello. 

Lena (28-3)  paced by junior Eva Brooks (6-1), who finished with 21 points, 19 rebounds, and four blocks. Sophomore Madi Thomson (5-10) added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats. 

Albany/Monticello finishes the season 27-3, winnning the D5 state title in its first season as a co-op.

Albany reached the state tournament as a standalone program and Monticello won the D4 state title in 1991.
