Austin Hephner of Chilton has been selected as the Week 7 WSN Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Hephner helped the Tigers claim an overtime win to remain unbeaten on the season. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 7. A total of 2477 votes were cast, with Hephner's 1231 votes easily out-distancing the competition.

The Tigers faced their tightest test of the season Friday night when they squared off against Kewaunee. Hosting a Storm team that had defeated them 35-0 and 49-0 in the last two meetings in Chilton, the Tigers fell behind 14-0 at halftime before battling back in the second half. Hephner's 48-yard touchdown catch pulled them within 14-13 in the third quarter. After Kewaunee botched a potential game-winning extra point at the end of regulation, Hephner took the second play of Chilton's overtime possession in for a 25 yard touchdown run and the defense held for a 33-27 overtime win. He finished with 204 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries to go with 3 catches for 58 yards and a score as the Tigers clinched a share of the Olympian-Packerland Large title.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WSN Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 8 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
