Shawn Magee of Rice Lake has been selected as the Week 8 WSN Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Magee helped the Warriors clinch a playoff berth with a big game against rival River Falls. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 8. A total of 4027 votes were cast, with Magee's 1684 votes edging out Jerrid McDaniel of North Crawford.

 

The Warriors could clinch a playoff berth with a win over River Falls on Friday, but it was a big game for the Wildcats too, who could become playoff-eligible with a victory. The teams went back and forth, but it was Magee's two touchdowns in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter that pushed Rice Lake's lead to 18 points as they held on for a 46-35 win. The senior quarterback finished the game with 127 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
