Nick Mehlum of Superior has been selected as the Level 2 Air National Guard Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. Mehlum led the Spartans to a shootout win over Ashwaubenon to advance to Level 3 of the playoffs. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Level 2. A total of 3,619 votes were cast, as Mehlum's 1854 were enough to edge second place Zach Hintze of Saint Mary's Springs, who tallied 778.

Mehlum out-dueled fellow All-State candidate James Morgan of Ashwaubenon on Saturday, completing 19 of 31 passes for 335 yards and 6 touchdowns as the Spartans claimed a 56-35 victory to advance to Level 3. Mehlum now has more than 3000 yards and 38 touchdowns on the season.

It is the second Air National Guard Player of the Week award for Mehlum, who also took home the honor in Week 3 of the regular season.
