Katie Stark of Hayward girls basketball has been selected as the PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week for the week of March 2-8 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.

There were 15,164 votes this week with Stark finishing with 6,409. Peyton Flanders of Superior boys hockey finished second with 6,336 votes. 

Stark hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to lift Hayward past Durand 43-42 and earn their first state tournament appearance since 1989. Stark finished with a game-high 16 points.

In their Division 3 Sectional Semifinal win over Baldwin-Woodville, Katie finished with a game-high 20 points. 

Hayward plays Xavier in a Division 3 State Semi-Final on Friday morning.
