The WSN15 series will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of WisSports.net by looking back at the top players, teams, and moments of the past 15 years (2003-2017).

We begin our WSN15 girls' basketball series with the Top 15 Moments of the WSN Era.

After dropping a then career-high 51 points to lead Milwaukee Academy of Science to its first-ever trip to the state tournament, Shemera Williams was nothing short of impressive as a sophomore at the Resch Center.

Williams broke nine Division 5 state tournament records in 2017, including the record for points in a game with 40 and points in a tournament with 73. Those two are second all-time in state tournament history to former DSHA standout and current Notre Dame national champion Arike Ogunbowale who scored 55 points in a game and 82 in two games in 2015.

Williams scored 40 points in a 74-61 loss to Loyal in the D5 state championship game, previous record was held by Assumption's Gena Grundhoffer who scored 35 points in a state semi-final the in 2016.

Shemera finished with 33 points in the Novas' 51-47 win over previously unbeaten Clayton in a state semi-final, giving her 73 points in the two games at the state tournament. Williams also finished with 8 rebounds, 5 blocks and 2 assists in the victory. The 73 points shattered the previously record of 55 points set by Grundhoffer.

The other Division 5 state tournament records that Williams broke were most field goals in the tournament (26), most field goals in a game (16), most field goals attempted in a game (28), most field goal attempted in a tournament (54), three-pointers made in the tournament (9),three-pointers attempted in a game (13) and tied the single-game record for three-pointers in a game (5).

Williams' college recruitment had already taken off prior to her impressive run to the state tournament with a handful of offers at the time, including Wisconsin and Marquette, but her abilities were quickly known across the state after her performances at the Resch Center.

Since her trip to state as a sophomore she has continued to turn heads. She is closing in on the state's all-time scoring list for girls' basketball, has the second most points in a single season, and has numerous performances on the single game scoring list. She moved up to 6th in state history on the all-time scoring list with 2,341 points after averaging 39.9 points per game as a junior.

She will enter her senior year 888 points away from Megan Gustafson's all-time mark of 3,229. Shemera posted the second-best single season scoring performance in state history, finishing the campaign with 1,038. The total is 89 points fewer than what Gustafson posted during the 2014-15 season. Shemera also had seven games with at least 46 points, including games of 50, 52 (twice), 53 and 54 points.

Shemera is continuing to receive scholarship offers and is expected to shorten her list of potential landing spots later this week.
