South Shore's Emily Gustafson has been selected as the top senior Defensive player as part of the WSN Senior Girls Basketball Awards.

South Shore is undefeated heading into the Division 5 state tournament, with Emily Gustafson a big key to their success.

At 6-2 she provides an imposing threat on the inside, especially on defense. Her length, athleticism, and timing allow her to control the game as she averages 18.2 rebounds, 5.7 blocks, and 3.6 steals per game.

The well-rounded play of Gustafson (6-2) has been key to the Cardinals success. The Upper Iowa recruit is also averaging 18.5 points.

Finalists for the award were Gustafson, Renee Bennett of Muskego, Kayla Dawson of De Pere, Caitlynne Naughton of Neillsville, and Aaliyah Ramirez of Pius XI.

Alexis Lindstrom of Howards Grove received the award last season.
