Pulaski Invitational features six ranked teams and 53 ranked individuals

Kaukauna's Bryson Alsteen is a defending event champion and the top-ranked wrestler in his weight class

Saturday’s Pulaski Invitational brings together some of northeastern Wisconsin’s top high school wrestling talent in one final test before conference tournaments and the state tournament series commence.

Six state ranked teams and 53 ranked wrestlers are scheduled to take part in Saturday’s event, which is the 50th annual installment.

The ranked teams include: D1 No. 5 Kaukauna, D1 No. 9 Pulaski, D2 No. 2 Freedom, D2 No. 4 Luxemburg-Casco, D2 No. 5 Denmark, and D3 No. 3 Coleman.

Kaukauna won last year’s event with Luxemburg-Casco and Freedom rounding out the top-3.

As many as 15 of last year’s finalists could be back this year, including seven 2018 champions: Lucas Joniaux (Luxemburg-Casco, 106), Eric Barnett (Hortonville, 113), Caleb Gross (Coleman, 120), Bryce Bosman (Luxemburg-Casco, 126), Daniel Stilling (Elkhorn, 132), Jake Baldwin (Coleman), 138), and Bryson Alsteen (Kaukauna, 182).

Barnett, Gross, Bosman, Baldwin and Alsteen are all ranked No. 1 in their respective weight classes according to the latest Wisconsin Wrestling Online Rankings.

Barnett is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation at 120 pounds by InterMat.

Fourteen of the 16 teams competing have at least one state-ranked wrestler. Eight of them have four or more. A list of the ranked competitors, by team, can be found below:
