Nineteen of the 20 teams that I picked to reach the state tournament advanced to sectional play. The only team eliminated was Pacelli (D5). 

Entering sectional play, 36 of the 40 teams that I picked to reach sectional finals are still alive. 

Five Top Seeds Eliminated

Athens (D5), Dominican (D3), Gilman (D5), Poynette (D4), and Valders (D4) knocked off No. 1 seeds during regionals. 

Athens topped Pacelli, 56-52, in a Division 5 regional final.

Dominican upset Oostburg, 51-47 in overtime, in a Division 3 regional final. 

Gilman defeated South Shore, 59-51, in a Division 5 regional semifinal. 

Poynette topped Living Word Lutheran, 62-55, in a Division 4 regional final. 

Valders edged Kewaunee, 41-40 in overtime, in a Division 4 regional final. 

Germantown overcomes 16-point deficit to advance to sectionals

Germantown overcame a 16-point deficit to defeat Homestead, 85-79, in a Division 1 regional final.

Senior Lucy Leininger (5-11, D-II Minnesota State recruit) led the Warhawks with 28 points, nine rebounds, four assists, five steals, and four blocks in the victory. 

Other top contributors for the Warhawks were juniors Madeline Jakusz (5-10) and Danica Gosz (5-8) added 20 and 16 points, respectively. Jakusz also collected 16 rebounds. 

Homestead was led by junior Madison Fitzgibbon (5-7, UW-Milwaukee recruit), who netted a game-high 30 points with seven three-pointers made.

Drew joins 2,000-point club

Westfield senior Carly Drew (5-8) scored her 2,000th career point in the Pioneers' 47-37 win against Osseo-Fairchild in a Divison 4 WIAA regional semifinal. The NAIA Viterbo University recruit finished the game with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Other Notable Performances

Merrill senior Mia Ott (5-7) scored a school-record 53 points in the Bluejays' 83-66 victory over Ashland in a Division 2 regional quarterfinal. Ott also became the program's all-time leading scorer in the contest. She shot 19-for-38 from the floor and made 14 of 18 from 3-point land in the win. The 14 three-pointers are believed to be the state record for 3-pointers made in a game. 

Reedsburg senior Sydney Cherney (5-9) finished with 48 points and 12 rebounds in the Beavers' 60-51 win over Sauk Prairie in a Division 2 regional semifinal. The NCAA Division II Grand Valley State recruit finishes her career with 2,556 points (6th on the state's all-time scoring list). 

Badger junior Molly Deering (5-8) dropped a career-best 40 points in the Badgers' 81-67 victory over Racine Case in a Division 1 regional semifinal. 

McFarland senior Teagan Mallegni (6-0) tallied a game-high 35 points in the Spartans' 84-54 win against Mount Horeb in a Division 2 regional semifinal. Mallegni shot 11-for-19 from the floor, made 13 of 14 from the charity stripe, and added 15 rebounds, two assists, six steals, and two blocks in the contest. The Iowa recruit enters sectional play with 2,413 career points. 

Kettle Moraine Lutheran junior Makenzie Luehring (5-6) netted a game-high 33 points in the Chargers' 79-49 win against Sheboygan Falls in a Division 3 regional final. Luehring added six rebounds, six assists, eight steals, and a block in the victory. 

Lourdes Academy junior Hailee Bauer (5-7) tied her career high with 32 points in the Knights' 72-57 victory over Oakfield in a Division 5 regional final. Bauer added nine rebounds, two assists, four steals, and a block in the contest. 

Catholic Memorial junior Olivia Conway (5-6) scored a game-high 30 points and made a school-record eight 3-pointers in the Crusaders' 82-53 victory against Shoreland Lutheran in a Division 3 regional final. The NCAA Division III St. Norbert College recruit added six steals and three assists in the contest. 

Lakeland junior Kristina Ouimette (6-1) recorded a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists in a 70-69 win over Rice Lake in a Division 2 regional final. Ouimette, an NCAA Division I Lehigh University recruit, also tallied five blocks and three steals in the win.

Winnebago Lutheran senior Abby Cole (5-11) finished with 26 points and 24 rebounds in the Vikings' 55-49 win over Random Lake in a Division 4 regional final. Cole also recorded her 1,000th career rebound in the victory. The NCAA Division III Wisconsin Lutheran College recruit added four assists, four steals, and two blocks in the contest. 

Sheboygan Christian freshman Samantha Veldkamp (6-1) tallied 26 points, 24 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals in the Eagles' 55-41 win over Catholic Central in a Division 5 regional final.
